SUMMARY
Best Life Therapy is seeking a compassionate, on-site School Psychologist that will be responsible for the psychological assessment of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains utilizing problem-solving and standardized evaluations. The School Psychologist will monitor the completion of evaluations and participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings. The School Psychologist will attend clinical review meetings and will assist in the designing of internal systems/ programs services that will maximize students social, emotional, and educational success. The School Psychologist will model and promote an effective educational environment in collaboration with students, families, staff, and communities.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a specialized on-site, school-based classification and not part of a series.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions and tasks:
- Performs a child study assessment including comprehensive psychological evaluations, assessments of intellect, development, academic, social/emotional, and behavior status.
- Performs diagnostic testing and interpret assessment results to determine students’ needs.
- Determines student’s particular strengths and weaknesses as a learner.
- Serves as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team and participates in the student support team, IEP, staffing, and eligibility meetings, as required.
- Leads assessment feedback meetings with both school personnel and parents to review results/findings and develops specific interventions on behalf of student.
- Generates reports for feedback to parents and school personnel.
- Maintains student caseload in compliance with state timelines and other state/company guidance.
- Advises teachers and other school personnel on methods to enhance students’ abilities.
- Works as a referral agent linking students and families when appropriate with “outside” agencies to service their needs.
- Serves as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team and participates in the student support team, IEP, staffing, and eligibility meetings, as required.
- Instructs students on how to monitor their own mental health and provides ways to practice skills.
- Monitors student progress, reevaluates IEP objectives, and adjusts delivery of psychological and/or therapy services, as appropriate.
- Conferences with parents/guardians and provides them with support and information regarding their child.
- Instructs parents/guardians in exercises to implement at home and in the care and use of specialized equipment.
- Consults with physicians and other agencies as necessary and assists with referring students to appropriate specialists.
- Adheres to legal and ethical standards and guidelines regarding the provision of psychological and therapy services.
- Maintains thorough records for each student receiving services at the assigned school(s) and provides related reports.
- Requests needed supplies and equipment.
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
OTHER DUTIES
- Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, continuing education courses, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by Executive Management or other appropriate administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- A thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of child psychology
- A thorough knowledge of testing and evaluation techniques and competent in assessment procedures and interpretation of the results
- The ability to design treatment plans
- The ability to provide safe and effective therapy to students receiving psychological and/or therapy services
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and recordkeeping skills, and
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
This position requires a Level 1 or Level 2 School Psychologist License or the eligibility for licensure, a Master’s degree in Psychology, an Ed.S., or a Certificate of Advance Study (CAS) in an approved program from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, and the maintenance of appropriate professional State licensures. Must meet the West Virginia Department of Education licensure eligibility requirements including holding or be eligible to hold a School School Psychologist license. 1-3 years’ experience in evaluating students in a school-based setting is preferred, but not required.

SUMMARY
Best Life Therapy is seeking a compassionate, school-based Sign Language Interpreter that will be responsible for providing communication access through sign language in a wide range of instructional and extra-curricular activities within an educational program. Since deafblindness is primarily a disability of access, the student will require extensive and novel modifications to the existing educational model. The student must have continual access to information that is otherwise not available, in order to provide equal access. The SLI is a member of the IEP educational team and serves as a bridge to the world for students who are deafblind. By minimizing linguistic, cultural, and physical barriers, the Sign Language Interpreter unlocks an environment that will allow the student to develop a sense of trust and security that will enable them to learn.

- Work under the direction and supervision of the teacher to whom assigned.
- Interpret for students utilizing the student’s preferred mode of communications.
- Provide interpreting during the school day in academic and non-academic settings.
- Confer with educators to plan for interpreting.
- Demonstrate and understand the educational process of interpreting by receiving training specific to job needs.
- To assist students who are deaf or hard of hearing and perform other related duties which benefit the students.
- Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with individuals unfamiliar with the educational setting.
- Interpret auditory and signed information which includes environmental sounds, teacher instruction, student questions, and peer communication as described in Code of Ethics for Educational Interpreters.
- Attend student’s IEP Team meeting, if invited, in order to provide information about the student’s communication abilities and needs.
- Serve as a member of the educational team to provide direct support to students with deafblindness as indicated in the students’ Individualized Educational Plan.
- Work effectively in close physical proximity to students who are primarily visual and tactile learners.
- Become proficient in the assigned student’s communication methods and strategies.
- Assist staff in teaching academics, daily living and social skills.
- Accompany and support the student during community-based instruction.
- Create activities and experiences to complement instructional program and IEP goals.
- Assume other in-school interpreting responsibilities such as: parent conferences, testing, disciplinary situations, counseling, field trips, etc., as requested by the direct supervisor, building administration, or BLT Executive Management.

QUALIFICATIONS
The Sign Language Interpreter should have specialized preparation in deafness for the primary role of interpreting and be qualified to provide other educational services as required in the school setting. - A thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of hearing loss and other conditions and their effect on early development of language
- A thorough knowledge of speech, motor, adaptive skills, and social-emotional development of the student who is deaf or hard of hearing
- An ability to interpret effectively, accurately, and impartially both receptively and expressively, using any necessary specialized vocabulary and must have knowledge of deafness and deaf culture
- A willingness to participate and complete ongoing, approved training in the area of deaf blindness
- A knowledge of a variety of techniques to be used to support a student with combined vision and hearing losses to make progress in the general curriculum as much as possible
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and record-keeping skills, and
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
This position requires a high school diploma or GED certificate. Must meet the West Virginia Department of Education Paraprofessional Certificate eligibility requirements including holding or be eligible to hold a Paraprofessional Certificate. A score of at least 3.0 on the Educational Interpreter Proficiency Assessment (EIPA) for Interpreter I certification is highly preferred. Must be eligible to be registered with the West Virginia Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. 0-3 years’ experience in providing sign language interpreter services for students in a schoolbased setting is preferred, but not required.

SUMMARY
Best Life Therapy is seeking a compassionate, school-based Speech-Language Pathologist that will be responsible for providing speech-language services to meet the individual needs of students with communication and/or speech-language impairments. The SLP is responsible for screening and assessment; goal development; and planning/implementing appropriate speech and language treatment services to maximize student learning.

- Evaluates and assesses the student’s functional status to identify and determine needs for speech-language therapy.
- Selects, administers, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
- Gathers background information as necessary on the student’s educational, medical, social, and psychological history to assist with determining possible causes of speech disorders.
- Serves as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team and participates in the student support team, IEP, staffing, and eligibility meetings, as required.
- Develops individual education plans for students receiving speech-language therapy services and implements therapy sessions that target IEP goals.
- Chooses appropriate activities for developing the student’s speech, voice, fluency, and language skills.
- Instructs students on how to monitor their own speech and provides ways to practice skills.
- Recommends the adaptation of the student’s learning environment, as necessary.
- Provides consultation to teachers and staff members to ensure the integration of speech-language development techniques into the student’s classroom routine.
